Laing E1-BCANCT1W-06 Autocirc Pump with Fixed Thermostat and Timer

E1-BCANCT1W-06 (LHB08100092) Laing Autocirc Pump with Fixed Thermostat and Timer

The auto circ pump is installed under the sink or faucet farthest from the water heater - where hot water usually takes the longest amount of time to arrive.

A built-in temperature sensor automatically turns the autocirc pump on when the water temperature in the hot water supply line cools down to 85º F. This cool water in the hot water supply line is then pumped into the cold water line and back into the water heater.

The autocirc pump turns off automatically when the hot water supply line to the faucet reaches a temperature of 95º F, ensuring the instant availability of shower warm water with maximum temperature hot water only seconds behind. When the pump is automatically turned off by the built-in thermostat, an auto closure device prevents hot or cold water from mixing in either supply line.

Another beneficial feature is that hot water will also be instantly available at all other faucets in the supply line between the water heater and the faucet where the autocirc pump is installed.

Features:
  • No return line required
  • Standard water heater application
  • Compact spherical motor design
  • Energy efficient ECM motor
  • Permanent Magnet Electronically Commutated Motor

  • Built-in temperature control
  • Built-in 24 hour timer with multiple on/off settings

I like it.
I bought this because I had to run the hot water a long time before it got hot in our 2nd floor master bath. With the pump installed the hot water is almost instantaneous. However, now the cold water is warm and my wife runs the cold water until it's cold enough to take her pills in the morning.

Solid - Simple!
Was easy to install at location where duplex outlet under cabinet was present. If you need hot water at several branches, a recirculator at the water heater with valves at furthest branch faucet would be a better choice.

This is one sweet little pump.
I bought the Laing Thermotech Autocirc instead of the other brands because I like its design philosophy the best. It is designed to be mounted under the sink most distant from the water header, not on the water heater as are the others. Why is this important? Because it puts the pump where the thermostat is.Pumps installed at the water heater depend on a timer to run the pump at appropriate times. Their thermostat only controls the return of previously heated water that has cooled back to the water heater. The pump must be running for the valve to do anything. That's fine if you keep a regular schedule. But I am retired and I am often home during the day. With the Autocirc, I don't use the timer at all. I allow the pump to cycle on and off with the thermostat. The box claims this thing draws only 10 to 14 watts. Using the higher figure, it would cost only $1.25 per month (using $0.12 per kWh) even if it ran 24 hours a day. I haven't figured out what the actual duty-cycle is, but I am sure it is much less than 50%. If you do keep a regular schedule, go ahead and set the timer and cut electrical consumption even more.Regardless of the actual operating cost, it's worth it to me to have hot water in our master bathroom without waiting or wasting water. And our guest bathroom gets hot water much quicker than before. This is one sweet little pump. The brass casting is beautiful - I almost hate hiding it in a cabinet. Should you care, it appears to be made in Hungary, not China. Installation was very easy, but I did have electricity in the cabinet under the sink. Frankly, I think these things should be required by code in the arid west. I'm sorry I waited so long to install mine.

Works as expected!
I bought this pump to get hot water to my upstairs shower which always took 3-4 minutes. I couldn't install it exactly close to the shower, but put it under the downstairs kitchen sink which is also furthest from the hot water heater. Now I get hot water in 15 seconds!

Great solution for waiting for hot water!
Very easy installation. I installed it under the master bathroom sink (furthest faucet from the hot water heater). The water comes out warm and within 15 seconds it's red hot. No longer do I have to wait 3-4 minutes for hot water in my shower. After using this circulation pump for over a month now, I can't understand why new homes don't come with these! These are a "must have" for any homeowner.

Awesome Recirculating Pump!
bathroom sinks furthest from the water heater were freezing when temps dipped below freezing. We would have to run the water for almost 5 minutes before we could hop into the shower. After installing, water is instantly warm and takes only a few seconds to heat up enough to jump into the shower. The only drawback is that we need to install an outlet under the sink. it took maybe 10 minutes to add a couple of supply lines to the undersink plumbing, Then, you simply plug it in and it is working! So easy to install!

Easy to install, and a snap to set the analog timer. Now I have near instant hot water at my kitchen sink (30' from the hot water heater) at all of the times of day when I need it. NO MORE WATER WASTED DOWN THE DRAIN WAITING FOR HOT WATER!! These things are better than sliced bread!

Saving lots of water now
We bought this to replace an existing one that was in the house we just bought. It would take 3 to 4 minutes to warm up the water in our master bath, & the water would only get just barely hot with low pressure. After replacing this autocirc we have instant hot water now. In the shower I have to turn the temp way down & we have lots of pressure. I can't believe that one device made such a difference.

Basic Product
The Laing pump is easy to install using standard plumbing interconnection hoses. The solid brass body houses an "O" ring that I suspected would leaky easily, but it does NOT leak. The recirculating pump is at the far end of my house and if you start to shower when the pump has been on, the water is immediately warm. There is a basic problem with the system, which is not Laing's fault. The water is pulled a long distance from the tank, so when the thermostat turns off the pump, the water sits in the hot water line. When the flow starts, the water may be cool or luke warm. Another aspect is that the sensor is in the pump, which may be still warm, although the water in the hot water pipe (under the slab) is cool. This is not a fault of the Laing pump, since it could be set for continuous recirculation, which would take care of the problem. The Laing pump makes the situation better, but it is not a perfect solution to the wasted water problem. I'm thinking about how it might be improved. The one nit-pick about the Laing product is that the timer dial is quite small and the numbers are hard to see. This is especially true for a black dial mounted in a cabinet out of the light. I believe a light color plastic would be better.

This thing works!!!
This thing works! Best invention since sliced bread. Very easy to install. I install this in my unfinished basement at the farthest distance from the hot water heater where I had rough in plumbing for a future sink. I capped off the top to outlets on the pump and just used the hot and cold water connections. We now have hot water throughout the house. Device is very quiet. I don't know how long these devices have been on the market, but I wish I knew about this device years ago. Sometimes you will get warm water when you try to get cold water, but its a minor complaint.

Works as Described
Before I installed it in my bathroom, it took 2.5 mins and 2.5 gallons of water to get slightly warm water. Now, hot water is instantly available during the scheduled times. What luxury! The unit is very quiet. My only quibble is that it's a little awkward to reset the timer because the controls and printing are quite small and it's dark under the sink. Wish I had installed this years ago.

Third time was a charm
The third pump I ordered finally worked. The first was DOA. The motor did not work. The second had 3 broken vanes on the impeller. But the third works great and I would recommend it to anyone. I only question the quality control at Laing! Faucet Depot was awsome in replacing the defective ones.

Extremely good product
Works great for end of run faucets. Got this because we had to run water forever before the cold water in the lines would turn hot. Installed this and it fixed our problem. The only problem is that it does disperse some warm water in the cold water line as it recirculates. This is mentioned in the literature and to us it is not a problem. It's easy to install & doesn't requre any extra plumbing lines. I did have to install a new GFCI outlet under my sink. I would highly recommend this product to anyone with end of line hot water delays.
