Excellent pump with an unreliable switch
I purchased this as a replacement pump for an existing under-sink installation because I could not get the float assembly to work correctly on the original after about 5 years of service (and I didn't want to replace the whole drain basin and plumbing.) The pump itself is fine, strong and quiet, but the vertical float assembly is poorly designed and becomes unreliable because it is too free to move horizontally on the bottom (it is located by a cheap rubber strap.) If possible, purchase one of the models that has a tethered loose float (that swings up as the water rises) it will probably work much longer without problems.

dependable
I have one in my sump pit right now and expect it to do the job for quite a while. We always use these pumps while draining pools and they never had trouble getting the last of the goo out of the bottom, even pushing twelve feet up to get it out.

Zoeller Needs to Come Into the 21st Cent
The pumps on these units have a lot of power and work very good. The float switches are the constant source of failures on these pumps in my 15 years, of working with this brand. I own 3 of them. The switches either get corroded, burned-out, or they get sticky and fail to work. The rubber surrounds also dry out, crack and leak water into the electrical compartment. The floats can also get coated with crud, which weights them down, so then your basement floods. I have complained about these float switch failures to Zoeller and they took a blind attitude towards the issue. They said to tie the float up and use an external float switch instead. They might just have told me to go out and buy a competitor's product instead. I said why don't you get away from the out-dated design and use a magnetic hall effect sensor, or other electronic means to sense the water level? They will keep selling this out-dated design until they go out of business. This company lacks any innovation. These units last about 5 years under moderate sump pump use.

Switch goes bad too soon
I am replacing the second pump of this type now - have three of them. They have lived for about 10 years, then corrosion lets water get to the switch and it either won't turn on or it won't turn off. Pump housings are covered with thick layer of rust, but if it were not for the switch these things could have a much longer service life. Still recommend it because the price is right but you must keep an eye on these things or have an alarm to keep your basement from flooding.

Great pump
Installed this pump to replace an older version of the same model that had been in place for at least 20 years. It works great and I expect the new pump to last at least as long.
