when the solar is cooking i turn off the takagi w/the remote functionality. You can lower the output T and prevent the heater from turning on. The input tells you what T yr solar has achieved.
great to have nearby so I don't have to go down in the basement to where the water heater is.
Works as advertised
Bought this to get a wider temp range out of my Takagi TDK20. The only choices for the heater out of the box are 120 and 180. One's too cool, one's too hot. I don't know why Takagi doesn't include one of these with the heater. Cheap company, I guess. I wanted higher temps for dishes and laundry without the scald risk running the temp at 180. Could have done a mixing valve but the controller was easier. Unit seems cheaply built but circuit boards usually either work or they don't. Not much to go bad with them. We'll see how long it lasts.
